CHALLENGES

As time goes by, GM crops continue to expand and progressively dominate the agricultural industry. The United States is currently leading with the largest amount of GM crops at over 70 million hectares, a significant quantity in comparison to Brazil in second place with a little over 40 million hectares of GM crops.

Despite continual growth, genetic modification in plants also continues to face a major challenge --- the debate on whether or not GM crops are actually GOOD for the world. Are GM crops the key to improvement? Or are they simply a detrimental science experiment?

Although many people believe that GM crops are advantageous for both the environment and us consumers, others do not. Many people believe that GM crops do more harm than anything else to both nature and people. It is this extreme clash in opinions that prevents GM crops from expanding as much as they probably could.
